I mostly write about fashion. Sometimes I write about things other than fashion, but I haven’t found a place where these thoughts could be published, which I obviously consider a great loss to public discourse, and no great gain to my computer’s hard drive. Hence, this. This newsletter is free, mostly because I cannot promise you regular updates (and I make enough money otherwise). The truth is, I’m a very intuitive writer. Plus, I’m lazy. I usually write when a thought pops into my head and refuses to leave, and so I need to get rid of it somehow, usually by writing it down, as well as the thoughts around it. Writing is basically putting my thoughts in order, so I can better understand them. I still find it extremely gratifying that people actually want to read my thoughts, so, thank you.
Christopher Hitchens, also an intuitive writer, once told me that he writes as if writing a letter to an intelligent friend. This has become the basic model for my own writing. It’s not the only thing I swiped from Hitch. His posthumous collection of essays is called, Arguably, as is this newsletter. I recommend it. And so, once more, unto the breach…
